MANTIS is very proud to present Dr. Schmidt.

With his roots in the Industrial and Synth-Pop of the early 90's, Andreas Schmehl aka Dr. Schmidt was soon infected by the Techno-Virus and by UK BreakBeats only a few years later. From 1997 on he followed his love for electronic rhythms as a DJ and from 2002 on also as a producer. In 2003 he started the project Maschinen Musik (details below)

I first came across his label back in the beginning of the year when I picked up release MM06: Dr. Schmidt: Steel Mill / Subkutan which is just damn filthy. Having a love of Industrial music, from bands such as NIN, Ministry, Nitzer Ebb, KMFDM and the ilk it isn't hard to spot the influence. Music not for the faint hearted.

Dr. Schmidt will be showcasing his mixing, programming and ultimately showcasing his label for the last MANTIS of 2008. Cannot wait.

Beats on the Mechanical Side of Life.....

Music done with machines and that sounds like machines: Based on this idea, Maschinen Musik was founded in 2003 by German DJ and producer Andreas Schmehl (Dr. Schmidt) to fill what he felt was a gap in the broad spectrum of electronic dance music. With the desire to promote a new vision of electronic music, a vision in which Techno, BreakBeats, Electro, and Industrial come together to form a new, raw sound, we created a label that is anchored in both the Techno and BreakBeat scenes. Today, Maschinen Musik provides a professional platform for artists that think outside established patterns and who share the love for dark, powerful, and yet danceable music.

The Maschinen Musik crew has created a unique sound between Techno and Electro with the high production level of UK BreakBeat or Drum’n’Bass, and takes special pride in the outstanding individual artwork for every new 12” vinyl record.

REST OF DA SHOW
Usual business with myself, DVNT on hosting duties for an hour either side. Expect the usual range of nice, lush and deep, to heavy, krunky and whob'd. More details to follow.

Just to add, this is the final monthly MANTIS show. From the new year we are going twice monthly. You will be able to catch us every other Saturday. Because of this the show will be reducing to 2 hours per broadcast. But you get an extra hour over the month. We have some excellent DJs and producers lined up with a really deep range of sound.
