Counterstrike

Counterstrike has played an instrumental role in putting South Africa on the world drum 'n bass map. Justin Scholtemeyer AKA Animal Chin and Eaton Crous AKA 500 Mills, have been active drum 'n bass DJ's on the club/rave circuit since the mid Nineties playing all over South Africa and recently England, Germany, Norway, Poland, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Slovakia and Switzerland. Counterstrike has been producing drum 'n bass as a collective since 1998. "We work together because we are into the same type of sound... it does not matter if we did a track together or seperately... it still sounds like Counterstrike." They've released just under 30 12's on various high profile labels and re-launched their own imprint, Algorythm Recordings in 2005. Apart from their busy production and DJ schedule they also find time to run the biggest monthly drum 'n bass night in South Africa called Homegrown. "We started up Homegrown in 2001 because we wanted to build a local sound and push local drum 'n bass artists.".

Prepare to get your head taken clean off, when this one drops it’s all over. A grinding LFO reece and counter stabs sit in perfect symbiosis to form a fast rolling high energy bomb. Watch out for the switch on the second drop!
B: Maniac
A bone chilling intro leads to one of the filthiest reeces imaginable. Chunky solid breaks ride under the twisting, snarling, monster of a bassline with carefully placed chunky stabs to increase the pressure. This one has all the characteristics of a psycho killer.
C: Killing Machine (Jezuz Road) feat. SPL and Limewax
Made on a recent Counterstrike tour in Europe, this is an all star combination. With solid breaks and killer stab/reece combinations it will turn any dancefloor into a moshpit. Absolutely brutal. Put your Slayer in the air and rock out with your cock out.
D: Can’t Let Go (T.Z.A RMX)
T.Z.A does some expert remix treatment on this tune featuring the Cobainesque vocals of Soma. A beautifull but haunting intro leads to crisp breaks and some sick call and response reece bassline bizniz. Watch out for the switch! Pure sickness…
