Serato + Ableton?

Just as the DJ world created embarrassing damp patches with the aforementioned Traktor evolution, two behemoths of the DJ scene have confirmed speculation that something was afoot. As sure as death and taxes, Serato have announced that they're hanging out with Ableton - just one day after day that NI made their own huge announcement. Everybody sing along... "Ableton and Serato sitting in a tree..."

Serato and Ableton are happy to announce a partnership, which will pave the way for the future of Digital DJing. With shared artist rosters from hip-hop (DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Nu-Mark, A-Trak) to electronica (Paul Van Dyk, DJ Sasha), both Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live are renowned as the premier performance platforms in clubs around the globe.

While Serato’s Scratch Live excels in vinyl emulation, music library control and lightning quick hands-on scratching, Ableton Live provides the tools for production, on-the-fly remixing and beat creation.

“Ableton and Serato take different approaches to modern musical performance,” says Ableton CEO Gerhard Behles, “But both companies live by the philosophy that software should be straightforward, easy to use, and most importantly, reliable and stable onstage and in the studio. Ableton has never had an answer for the DJ who wants vinyl control, and rather than try to emulate what Serato do so well, we simply make sure that our products work well together.”

Just where this Serato and Ableton collaboration will take us has yet to be seen but one thing is clear: the worlds of DJing, remixing and production for artists worldwide have changes ahead.

hm, naja, da müssen sich aber auch beide firmen richtig ins zeug legen. serato scratch ist zwar top notch - aber das was serato da als pure digital lösung abgeliefert hat: Serato Itch, welches zum bsp. mit dem Vestax VCI-300 ausgeliefert wird ist im vergleich zu Traktor einfach nur lame.

die oberfläche von ableton ist für's produzieren vlt. gut, für's DJing aber auch totaler müll. von dem her haben sich da mal zwei zusammengeschlossen, die zwar schon in anderen bereichen gepunktet haben, in sachen digital DJing aber grade mal so die zweite geige spielen. mal schauen was da rauskommt.

Ja, für konventionelles DJing garantiert
Dafür ist Ableton aber auch nicht gemacht worden!

ja, aber in den markt will ableton aber, wenn sie mit serato zusammenarbeiten - serato hat doch außerhalb dessen keine kernkompetenz. und genau die fehlt ableton ja. daß ableton in den dj markt will liegt doch auf der hand. daran doktorn die als stiefkind doch schon die ganze zeit rum.

ob traktor jetzt mehr "konventionelles" djing ist als ableton sei mal dahingestellt.

Und um den Ansprüchen dieses Marktes zu entsprechen werden die wohl auch einiges tun.
Da find ich so ne Kooperation doch sinvoll.

Mmh ich glaub schon dass da was gutes dabei rumkommen kann.
Mit Ableton kann man durchaus auflegen.Was mich bisher immer dran gestört hat,war dass man nen Midi Controller dazu benutzen musste,wenn man nicht nur mit der Maus arbeiten wollte.

Serato ist doch auch ne gute Firma,ich denk die werden zusammen ein fast komplett neues Programm bauen,sonst würde die Zusammenarbeit auch wenig Sinn machen.
Ich bin auf jeden Fall mal gespannt drauf.
