Cool 11.11.11 // Deep Contact pres. SHOCKONE & MC COPPA @ Backstage Munich

Hailing from Perth the epicenter of the Australasian drum and bass scene, ShockOne aka Karl Thomas has proved himself as one of the major talents in bass music today. He writes his music in a sweat box of a studio in an industrial area with air con blasting through a random door. He grew a beard this year which has been very well received.

2009 saw Shockone come of age with the release of 'The Shockone EP', featuring the seminal 'Polygon'. This tune received major air play world wide with high rotation play listing on Australia's Triple J radio and Radio 1's Annie Mac penning it as 'The biggest drum and bass tune out'. The EP's three drum and bass tunes achieved the top 3 spots on beatports drum and bass chart, and 'Adachigahara's Theme' stayed at number 1 on the dubstep chart for over a month, subsequently being voted as beatports number 1 all time classic dubstep tune. Following this Shockone released his remix of the Brookes Brothers epic 'Crackdown' on Viper recordings 'Acts of madmen LP' which was labeled "Album of the Week" on Zane Lowe BBC Radio 1. Shockone's collaborations with Phetsta, 'The Sun 2009' and 'Cyclones' have also received high rotation on radio world wide.

Shockone is no stranger to accolades having taken out 'best tune of the year' at the Perth dance music awards 4 years in a row, 'best drum and bass DJ' 3 years in a row and 'best producer' 3 years in a row.

2010 could best be described as the year of the remix for Shockone. His remix discography reading like a who's who of drum and bass and electronic music in general; Brookes brothers – Crackdown, Netsky- I refuse, Bcee – Help you, Chicane – Come back, Cutline – Die for you, Mutya Buena & Agent X – Fallin all receiving major DJ and radio support worldwide. 2010 also brings the release of the highly anticipated Shockone – 'Re-fix' EP, a collection of VIP's and remixes of the massively successful 'Shockone EP'.

One could be forgiven for wondering where Shockone has been for the last year but as they say the “Calm continueth not long without a storm." as the much hyped 'Crucify me' pt's I & II, the lead single to his debut album, drop this June. The official youtube promo trailer alone for this tune has gained 9000 views in 2 weeks.

On the touring front Shockone has just been announced as support for the 'Karnivool' Australian tour, as well as his own headline 'Crucify me' single tour.
Shockone has also just been put in charge of mixing the next 'One Love dubstep invasion' compilation CD due out later this year.

Shockone's debut LP is due out for release late 2011. This long awaited solo album is sure to push boundaries, cross genres, max the envelope and so on.

░░░▒▒▓▓█ COPPA █▓▓▒▒░░░

The professional live MC/Vocalist is performing for 10 years now with performances across 29 countries at clubs, events and festivals as far as China, Singapore, Siberia, Russia and of course all over Europe and the UK.
Coppa got an early taste of international work when he was offered to be the MC/Vocalist for DJ Roobles, of the well known British bigbeat band Kitachi, for the China Tour in 2003. The tour included dates all over the country and culminated in a show at the massive Rojam nightclub in the centre of Shanghai with an audience of 2,000 people.
From this point on Coppa had many notable appearances at festivals & events such as Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival in Singapore (alongside Diplo, Simbad, Kruder & Dorfmeister), opening a show for Missy Elliot at X-Live Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Pepsi Sziget Festival in Budapest and a performance at the O2 Arena at Pohoda Festival in Slovakia (alongside Audio Bullys, Miss Kitten & Pendulum).
His vast experience in the live arena served him well - being requested to host live dj sets for a wide array of international Djs/Producers from house music legends such as Felix the House Cat, or electronica giants Peter Kruder & Richard Dorfmeister, techno funk star Meat Katie to jungle, drum and bass dons such as Aphrodite & Nicky Blackmarket, Roni Size and Adam F.
Recently Coppa fronts the 9 piece Nu-Funk/Hiphop live band The Q-Orchestra, signed to Freestyle Records UK in London. Having recorded 2 tracks for their first album “Journey through Sound” which was released in 2010, Coppa was then invited to become the front man for their live show performances. In summer 2010, Coppa performed with the band in Greece; the highlight was for sure the show at Kotzia Square in the center of Athens at the European Music Day Festival.
