'Soulstice' is the astounding third album from local dancefloor kings, Shapeshifter. It features the single "Bring Change", as well as appearances from KP, Kye + a scorching track from Ladi 6.

Over the last few years, Shapeshifter have built a reputation for their intense, uplifting & joyous “in concert” d’n’b sets. With ‘Soulstice’ they’ve managed to realize that vibe in the studio, via a far denser musicality than on previous albums.

In practical terms that means there is more “live” instrumentation and wicked playing throughout this recording, which helps make it their most impressive release yet.

BIOGRAPHY:
Shapeshifter have been heralded as a musical phenomenon for their ground breaking live shows, and have received widespread critical and commercial acclaim for their recorded work.

Their reputation as pioneers of modern music was built by a unique approach to electronic music, creating live what had previously been restricted to computer based studio musicians.

Shapeshifter’s sound has evolved to transcend genre definition, taking elements from jazz, latin, reggae, soul, rock, hip hop and electronica, and blending them live, into a truly diverse and overwhelming dancefloor experience.

2001 saw the release of their debut LP 'Realtime', highlights included a collaboration with sublime vocalist Ladi6, on the track "Move With Me". Realtime was awarded the 'Best Electronic Release' at the 2002 bnet NZ music awards, and was also nominated at the RIANZ NZ music awards for 'Best Electronic Album'. The track "Tapestry" became the No.1 most played track on the Alternative Radio Airplay charts for 2001, and was also nominated for 'Best Song' at the 2002 bnet awards.

Their second release 'Riddim Wise LP' gained gold sales status and is only the second independently distributed Drum’n’Bass album in the world to do so. The hits “Long White Cloud”, “Been Missin” and “When I Return” feature the voices of some of New Zealand’s top soul vocalists – Joe Dukie, P-digsss and Ladi6 respectively. The album has subsequently spent many weeks at number 1 on the independent album sales charts. They won ”Best Electronic Release” for their video of “Long White Cloud” at the 2005 Juice TV Music Awards.

Shapeshifter perform regularly in New Zealand and Australia. They have played a massive five sell-out New Zealand tours in a row as well as performing throughout the New Zealand festival circuit. September 2006 will see Shapeshifter tour throughout Aotearoa spreading their acclaimed drum and bass soul styles. In cutting-edge Shapeshifter fashion, they will be creating a unique experience as they perform with leading orchestras in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. This is reminiscent of their unprecedented live collaboration in front of an estimated 20,000 people at the Auckland Domain with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in 2005. Mixing this electrifying live band with an orchestra is an extraordinary experience not to be missed.

Seit der #TT003 mit dem tune "Long White Cloud" bin ich ein grosser Fan "Soulstice" ist ein sehr schönes Album von Shapeshifter! Es ist in Neuseeland auf "Truetone Recordings" erschienen und wird meines Wissens in Europa von L.O.A.D. Media aus England vertrieben. Die machen eigentlich immer einen ganz guten Job die releases schön zu verteilen aber bei der CD/LP "Soulstice" ist das leider nicht der Fall.

Wird wohl deswegen noch eine Weile dauern bis das gute Stück auch mal auf amazon/ebay usw. auftaucht ;-)

soweit ich weiss leider nicht, ich glaub selbst in neuseeland gibt's nur eine cd-version.
