Upcoming tunes from Phuturistic Bluez

GREG PACKER
P-SIDE : WHERE'S THE DISCO?
B-SIDE : ONE STEP
RELEASE DATE : SEPT. 2002
CAT. # : PB010
Phuturistic Bluez is proud to present its debut single from the talented Greg Packer, hailing from Perth, Austrailia. Already making waves with a string of releases on several labels in only a few months' time, Greg is taking the scene by storm with a fresh interpretation of drum & bass that takes equal parts house and soul, mixing it all together for a fun and funky vibe all his own.

"Where's the Disco?" is a sure-fire dancefloor winner, unabashedly wearing its disco influence on its sleeve. Coming in strong with filtered breaks, four-to-the-floor hi-hats, and disco strings, the intro builds in anticipation for a heavy and uplifting drop. Imagine classic disco house at 170+ BPM with a couple added kicks and snares, and you'll get the gist of it, but don't take our word for it, look for the smiles on the dancefloor when you drop it.

"One Step" Takes the outright intensity down a notch and instead goes for subtlety. Once again filtering in the breaks, warm chords move along underneath a slowly progressing drum pattern. The deep and soulful male vocal is expertly timed to build the pressure. This is music that sits with you long after the track is over, building a vibe that is nothing short of inspirational.

BLUE SONIX - "THIS FEELING"
THE REMIXES

P-SIDE : HIGH CONTRAST'S ULTRAMAXIMIZED DISCO DUB MIX
B-SIDE : INFLUX DATUM'S INTOXICATED MIX
RELEASE DATE : LATE SEPTEMBER 2002
CAT. # : PBRMX2

After months of anticipation, we are proud to bring you the massive remixes of Blue Sonix's classic musical number "This Feeling." Certainly a shining example of the Phuturistic Bluez sound, the original version featured a heavy live jazz element with many layers of complex instrumentation. Both remixes, provided by two of the hottest names in the D&B scene today, reinterpret the original elements into distinctly different pieces of music that pay homage to the original while reflecting each remixers' own unique talents.

The "Ultramaximized Disco Dub Mix" by High Contrast is an epic disco-fuelled roller that has been featured in the sets of such A-list DJs as Fabio, Marcus Intalex, London Elektricity, Bailey, and many others. Built on a heavy running break and a super-low end dubby bassline, the buildup is superb, accellerated by vocoded vocals and guitar twangs from the original. The full-bodied string samples give the finished product a classic disco feel. Already a big hit at our own "Sense of Groove" monthly party in NYC, this one is guaranteed to make the dancefloor sweat.

Influx Datum go down a road less travelled for their "Intoxicated Mix," lowering the tempo significantly while still keeping the D&B mindset. Through the use of a delicate break and heavy washing synths, the duo bring a very ethereal vibe to their remix, a bit different from what you would expect. The perfect B-side nightcap to the peak-time antics of High Contrast's A-side.

Now relocated to NYC, Phuturistic Bluez is poised to take the drum & bass scene by storm this year, hitting all corners of the world with its new twist on soulful and jazzy drum & bass for the 21st century. With high profile remixes, music from some brand new artists, and a back catalogue mix CD in the pipeline already, expect to hear alot more from Phuturistic Bluez in 2002!

THE REMIXES
P-SIDE : HIGH CONTRAST'S ULTRAMAXIMIZED DISCO DUB MIX
auch nich so der Hammer, irgendwie gefallen mir die Vocoder-Vox nich
B-SIDE : INFLUX DATUM'S INTOXICATED MIX
