Understandably, a lot of folk are getting excited about the new 4 Hero LP which is shaping up to be an absolutely killer.
I'm not sure how many folk on here are long-time 4 Hero fans, when they were putting out loads of releases on Reinforced records and the like. It would be fair to say that along with a couple of other heavyweight producers and DJs in the early / mid 1990s, 4Hero helped shape modern electronic music in the UK and beyond. I guess most people on here are proper 4 Hero headz, given it's the 4 hero forum
Anyway, I felt it might be an idea to put together a mix of some of their older stuff. When I say 'older', I mean their drum and bass output prior to later releases which could be described as early broken beats or Nu-Jazz.
The mix isn't just limited to the big, uplifting hardcore and jungle tracks 4 Hero created in their Manix, 4 Hero and Tom & Jerry guises. It spans their heavy, heavy detroit techno productions as Nu Era, and the organic, next level vibes of Jacobs Optical Stairway.
The mix is in 3 parts of around an hour each - it could have been significantly longer if I'd included 4 Hero's newer work and remix pieces!
Don't expect technically excellent mixing, but do expect a trip down memory lane (for the older headz) or a lesson in musical genius if you are relatively new to 4 Hero.
